Finding pharmaceutical options dangerous or ineffective, thousands of patients have turned to medical cannabis for relief, and states are increasingly adding PTSD to their lists of qualifying conditions for medical cannabis.
The use of medical cannabis to treat symptoms of PTSD has emerged as a possible alternative therapy, however, the evidence related to treatment efficacy is conflicting.
PTSD patients have been saying for years that cannabis helps with their PTSD. And while research on the topic has been somewhat inconclusive, many PTSD patients continue to report that cannabis does help.
Combined with other therapies, medical marijuana may help those with PTSD.
“I started taking so many prescription pills,” he recalls, “I was numb to the world.” Over time, he ended up replacing those pills–up to 150 a day, he says–with marijuana.
